Zooming in on Wicked Problems
The Wicked Problems Collaborative (WPC) is an experiment that looks to improve public discourse around humanity's messy, interconnected challenges. It consists of an independent press, a series of anthologies, this Substack, and its podcast. Collectively, these efforts aim to promote new, divergent lines of thinking to help readers reconsider big challenges. The goal isn’t to obtain agreement but to collectively evolve our positions towards more nuanced, generative perspectives and work towards positive change.
As the publisher of the WPC, this site is my home base for writing and talking about issues like climate change that are steadily fostering long-term havoc, as well as the ongoing parade of pressing issues like the COVID-19 pandemic. In short, I never know what I'm going to write next, but it's usually about something with the potential for meaningful repercussions for humanity. What I do know is that I don't like the path we're on, so I'm trying to do what I can to help nudge us towards a better one.
Why subscribe?
I founded the Wicked Problems Collaborative as an outlet for my frustration with humanity's general lack of progress on the big issues we face. If you're the kind of person who's sick and tired of being sick and tired with our circumstances, and you enjoy reading about important matters that are delivered alternately via deadly serious and wildly unserious bents, this might be the place for you. (If not, it's easy to unsubscribe.)
Along with my writing, you'll get occasional interviews on the podcast with WPC contributors and other interesting folks. I'm currently working through the contributor list from WPC Book #2, What Do We Do After the Pandemic?, and we'll start on the group from Book #1, What Do We Do About Inequality?, once that's done. So there are loads of interesting folks waiting on the horizon…
Thanks for stopping by.
